what’s that noise coming out of the dark forest, let me go investigate !

July 26, 2010 in MAGAZINE

    Hey Guys,
We have all seen movies where we know exactly what’s going to happen before it does, right? Somehow we still watch the movie anyway. You know what we are talking about, the movie where there’s a couples retreat in the middle of the forest. The scene is very dark and in the middle of the night during a full moon there’s a wolf howling. The young lady says to her boyfriend, “I going to check it out.” Then she starts to make her way through the forest. Now we all know what happens next, but we continue to watch it anyway.
You leave the movie saying to yourself, if that was me; I won’t even be in that forest! Why would she even go outside when she hears howling like that, what was she thinking? For that, she deserved to be wolf chow. These movies always end the same way, but you continue to watch them anyway. Here’s another story which is 100 times scarier than the first. Tell us how you like this one.

As a kid, you were taught to go to school, get an education, and get a good job. You spend tons of money doing so and you end up getting a job that you don’t even like, but you think it pays well. You start your career at 22 or 23 years old. After being broke for the first 22 years of your life, when you start making some money, you go mad! For the next 7 years you spend your money like there’s no tomorrow. Let’s face it, as a young adult when you get a job making 30K to 45K out of college and the only thing you’re paying back are credit cards and student loans, you tend to spend money freely. In your late 20’s and early 30’s, you start to settle down and make better financial decisions. This is when most people start planning for their future and their retirement. At this point, your expenses have tripled! Now you have a family, a home, and tons of other responsibilities. You start looking for new opportunities to make more money, so you go out and get a “better” job and start making a little more money. So you get a bigger house and a newer car. This is the trend that 98% of the population takes. What happens over the next 35 years is the real scary movie.

Let’s take a modest number, let’s say when you retire, you’ll be comfortable with 5k a month. How much do you have to put away for you to generate this type of income during your retirement years? It will take roughly 1.2 million dollars put away by age 65. If you start at age 30, it breaks down to you allocating 35K every year for the next 35 years towards your retirement. Only 20 percent of the population makes over six figures on yearly basis, and half of them have living habits that are beyond their income and means. So what will it take for you to put away 35K a month for the next 35 years? Do you think it’s possible for you? This is what we are taught to do, we’ve been taught generation after generation to follow this flawed system. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that 95% of the world struggle and the other 5% thrive.
Guys, this is the one time we want to be wrong! However, 95% of you on this path will realize that you spent your entire working life climbing a ladder that was leaned against the wrong building. This phenomenon has been happening through out history to people of all ages, colors, and nationalities. So why would you think it’s going to be different for you? How is that different from the girl in the movie going to investigate a howling sound coming out of the forest during a full moon expecting to find out what the noise is and make it back to tell others. The chances of that happen is 5%. Look guys, we really want to be wrong on this one. We want you to prove us wrong and join the 5% until it becomes 10 – 15%. However, the reality is, not everyone will be in the 5%. So don’t play Russian roulette with your future!!

We always suggest that you do something you love. However, don’t be someone who loves what they do, but isn’t good and therefore, isn’t making any money. Make sure you learn everything there is to know about what you would love to do. You want to continuously learn about your area of expertise to build your self-belief, and become better than the rest of your field, until you reach the point where you’ve achieved mastery. When mastery is achieved, fortunes are made. Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it. When Keril and I found our niche in marketing and sales, there were lots of friends who said some discouraging things to us. I had a friend ask, “Hey, you’re not trying to invite me to one of those “things” are you?” I had another friend tell me, “Oh man, you almost got me! You’re trying to get me in one of those scams, I’m calling the “feds” on you! You should be locked up.” I felt like I was doing something that was just as dumb as the girl in the movie that investigates the howling sounds in the middle of the forest during a full moon. As I grew and continuously learn to master my niche, I realize that the alternative path that I was on was 1000 times worse. Now let’s fast forward to July 2010. We are in a place that we could only dream about being a couple years ago. As we reflect, we are extremely humbled and grateful. Unfortunately, 95% of people are still on the path to failure! We feel knots in our stomach when we see the same folks taking the same path year after year with no meaningful progress being made in their lives.

Ladies and gentlemen, working for 40 years, 40 hours a week, and then retire on 40% of what you currently make does not work. It’s been proven time and time again with roughly 95% of the population. People will try to discourage you and give you their reasons on why you shouldn’t open your own business in this economy, or why you shouldn’t do network marketing. Simply ask them, “you might be right, so what do you suggest I do?” I guarantee they won’t have an answer for you, or they will give you an answer that you know doesn’t work like the famous “40/40/40 plan”. Our advice is this; have faith, believe in your higher power and in yourself. No one will live your life for you. You have to love it yourself, and you have to make the decisions that are required to live a powerful and fulfilling life. I just don’t know how powerful and fulfilling your life can be when your future is in the hands of someone else and it ends the same way 95% of the time. Please take some time to reflect on this. Until next time, hope to see you at the pinnacle of your success.
